Physiotherapist, Curtin University, WA
Anna Scheer is a physiotherapist who is completing her PhD at Curtin University under the supervision of Professor Andrew Maiorana, Dr. Beatriz IR de Oliveira and Winthrop Professor Daniel Green (UWA). Anna is passionate about using aquatic exercise to improve health outcomes for people living with chronic disease, with a particular interest in vascular health.
Anna’s involvement with aquatic exercise research began 11 years ago when she commenced her Honours investigating the effects of aquatic exercise training in people with type 2 diabetes. Since then, Anna has undertaken additional training in sonography and worked clinically in home rehabilitation and aquatic exercise training. She returned to Curtin University to undertake her PhD investigating the effects of aquatic exercise training in people with coronary heart disease. Through her research projects Anna has developed specialised aquatic exercise training programs, and aquatic resistance exercise equipment. Additionally, she has been involved in research investigating the effects of sedentary behaviour, exercise for people with heart failure and ventricular assist devices and social media based cardiac rehabilitation for coronary heart disease management.
